So...What Now?

With all of our paperwork done, our dossier on it's way to Ethiopia, and no more documents to notarize or agonize over....what do we do now??

We have (more than likely) a long wait time ahead of us.  This is no time to rest on our laurels though!  There is still much work to be done.  Here's some of the things that we will be working on(adoption-wise) during our wait:

-Praying for our sweet baby!
-Saving the rest of the money for the referral/program fees and the flights to Ethiopia
-Finishing our basement
-Continuing to read books and blogs about Ethiopian adoption or adoption in general
-Updating paperwork as needed (some paperwork expires during the wait time and will need to be redone)
-Keeping up with our agency's blog to see what's going on in the Ethiopian adoption world
-Writing on this blog every once in a while so that ya'll know that we're still here and still waiting...

I started knitting a pink baby blanket and I have the best intentions of finishing it and knitting a baby blue one too...  But I only have 2 years, it may not get done  ;)

Officially Waiting!

Today our dossier was sent off to Ethiopia, so today is our DTE (date to Ethiopia)!!  We are officially "waiting" now!  We have about 2 years to wait, maybe shorter, maybe longer.  Thanks for all your prayers and support.  Please continue to pray for this baby.

Great Quote

"We have been blessed with so much, yet too often we squander these blessings in our personal pursuits without a thought that God gives us these things to use for His Kingdom.  Yet I believe that the adoption of orphans is one of the greatest opportunities today for fulfilling the Great Commission."

-Dennis Rainey - President of Family Life Today

Dossier Status

We received word from our Family Coordinator today that our dossier looks great!  They will finish verifying everything and we will have a DTE (Date To Ethiopia) of June 21st!  That's when we officially start our "wait".

Current wait times for Ethiopia are 24-30 months.  Possibly less if a minor/correctable special needs child is available.  So we're looking at around mid to late 2015.

That gives us plenty of time to finish our basement and save up the rest of the money for the final program fees and the travel.  We're so excited to be done paperchasing!

Thank you for all your prayers and support!!

DOSSIER IS IN THE MAIL!!!

Hooray!!!  Today we went down to the post office and mailed our dossier!!!

Our adoption agency will probably receive it Friday or Saturday - which means nothing will be done until Monday.  They have 2 staff members check it thoroghly to make sure everything is there and done correctly.  Then they take it to the State Department for authentification and the Ethiopian Embassy for approval.  THEN within 2 weeks it SHOULD be on it's way over the big blue ocean!

Thanks again to Hope for the Children and everybody who helped us raise funds!!!

Rummage Sale!

Well today was our rummage sale.  We were praying for the rain to hold off and it did for the most part!  Around noon it started raining so we covered everything up with clear plastic and went inside for lunch.  After lunch, the rain had stopped so we went back out and had several more customers in the afternoon.

We had hoped to be somewhere around $200-$250.  When all was said and done, we made $251.70!  What a blessing that God provided exactly what we hoped for!

We sold most of our stuff and the tables were pretty bare when we put them away.

Thanks again to the families who donated items for our sale!!!

Next week is Dossier week!

Down to the wire here, getting ready to send in our dossier NEXT WEEK!!

We're spending a few evenings this week getting everything put on tables so that Saturday morning we can just haul the tables out of the garage.  Grace will be selling candy bars and lemonade.  We are putting an ad in the newspaper and on Craigslist.   Hopefully we'll sell out!!

Thanks to the families who have donated items for our sale!

Good things today...

Today we received our certifications in the mail!  Hooray!

We also got our passport-type photos done today at the DMV.  We already have our passports, but some of the pictures we need to send with our dossier are passport-type photos that don't have to match the photo in your passport.

So the only picture we have left is one "family life" picture - which we're going to do this weekend.  Then all the pictures (our house, 2 formal photos of our family, 4 family life photos, and one picture of a common room [living room] in our house) will be off to Walgreens to be printed off.

So excited!

Thanks for all your prayers!

2 Weeks to Dossier!

2 more weeks to go!  We're still waiting for our certified papers to come back from the Secretary of State's office.  We sent it certified mail and it was confirmed that they received it on May 15th, so maybe by next week we'll have it back.

We're getting ready for our rummage sale on June 1st and a few families from our church have graciously donated extra items for it.  We're really hoping for good weather.  It's been raining for days here.
